Description

W.F. Bill Moran ST-23 Damascus Fighting Knife by Charlton LTD 45th Anniversary
Proudly made in the USA 1985

Beautiful contoured hardwood handle with a big brass double guard and pointed pommel. Excellent formed to shape damascus steel clip point bowie style blade. Tang stamped W.F. MORAN BY CHARLTON LTD  -  1985-13 45th ANNIVERSARY. Includes original teak wood presentation box, heavy duty leather sheath and a copy of a 1985 Souvenir Ship Spike newspaper showing the knife and a story about W.F. Bill Moran and this limited edition knife. This is a really early serial number #13. The knife is in new unused condition and shows some minor storage patina on the blade, which is actually kind of cool! This knife is very intimidating but comfortable to hold which is what made this design so popular in Vietnam.

This is an incredible piece of Knifemaking history by Charlton LTD fully supported by Bill Moran who is the former president of the Knifemakers Guild, chairman/founder of the American Bladesmiths Society and is credited with the rediscovery of Pattern-Welded Damascus steel. Bill Moran passed away in 2006 and his knives have gone incredibly high since then, and original ST-23 Damascus Fighting knife would sell for 10-15 times this amount easy. These knives were strictly limited to in quantity to orders placed prior to January 31, 1986. The original price over 30 years ago was $895. Don't miss your chance at this knife as you may never see another one for sale!

Following is what Bill had to say about this particular knife I cannot produce enough knives to keep everybody happy, particularly in Forged to Shape Damascus... so I'm pleased that Rob Charlton of Charlton, LTD is offering my design here with my full blessing... its also significant that my most popular design has been adopted as the expression of my 45th Anniversary in knife making, especially in Forged to Shape Damascus Steel, my favorite medium. I hope its owners are as satisfied with its overall quality as I am.

Blade Material: Forged to Shape Damascus Steel
Handle Material: Hardwood
