Large, well make (Microtech) knife. Not easiest to carry but ready for the most difficult tasks. Work extremely well.

Never in my life would I have considered spending over $500 on a knife, until restrictions on automatic knives were relaxed in Pennsylvania this year.. 02-January-2023. I did a lot of research on the inner webs, and even after the few negative things I read about Microtech... Both their products and after sale support...I pulled the trigger on a Microtech Ultratech model 121-10...Awesome knife. Very well made.beautiful fit and finish....AND now for the not so awesome. After the first few opening and closings...my thumb was absolutely shredder by that cheese grater of a switch...Very stiff action, and very rough action...felt like a metal rake being dragged over a gravel road. Don't know how this thing got into a box....never mind out their door. Was going to send it back to Microtech...UNTIL I found out the hellish obstacle course of hoops and fire pits needed to jump through and across just to send this thing in for warranty work. I gave up on Microtech's knife snobbery, and bought a take down tool, and opened her up. Inside I found a quick deburring and polishing on the locks and the carriage made the gravel feel go away. I then polished out the areas on the blade that the locks sit into. I then changed/increased the angle of the area just under the locks. This made the distance that the carriage had to push the locks to release the blade...shorter and smoother...like a trigger job...for a knife. Now it is a very reliable..very easy to deploy and retract functional tool. I then saw the Combat Troodon model 143-10 and threw my $ at it. As soon as I got it...I hit the switch....and it was just what I came to expect from a $550 Microtech...I guess. Hard, and gritty. After a lot of deburring and stone work, and a new spring from Teamwill on Amazon.... add says Microtech Ultratech OTF UT Daytona Troodon series Daggers. Buy these springs, there are two in a package. Night and day difference in the action on a very user unfriendly knife. I've had ZERO missfires or failures to retract on hundreds of openings and closings. I love both of these knives very much. Don't care much for Microtech's warranty snobbery... Its a knife..not a state of the art space craft...A KNIFE. I've never sent a pistol or a rifle back to the factory for an action job...or a clean and lube ...Never have I seen such an arrogant company...but hats off to them for their machine work and fit and finish on both of my knives. I'm only a few months into this new hobby.. That said.. I don't know what to really look for in a $500+ OTF knife...but I'm thinking it should be used friendly, dependable, and your thumbs shouldn't bleed.? Hope this helps in your decision to buy this awesome knife. I love mine after a ton of work.
