The Shaman is a hand-filling, no-nonsense folding knife based on the proven design theme of the iconic Spyderco Native. About 20 percent larger than the Native, it offers the same refined ergonomics, as well as a few significant differences with its construction and lock mechanism being distinctly different. The scales are 3-D machined from G-10 and thoughtfully contoured to provide a comfortable, secure grip. Skeletonized stainless steel liners nested within the smooth, matte-finished scales reinforce the handle’s structural strength and form the basis of the knife’s Compression Lock mechanism. The blade features a very high flat grind that balances strength, low-friction edge geometry, and an acute, utilitarian point. To ensure convenient carry and keep the knife poised for immediate access, the handle includes a four-position pocket clip.
This limited edition Sprint Run model features brown G-10 handle scales. Stonewash finished CPM-15V steel that is further enhanced by a specialized heat treating protocol developed by acclaimed custom knifemaker Shawn Houston. Boasting almost a 15 percent vanadium content, this remarkable material offers the highest wear resistance of any cold work tool steel available today. All of these combine to give a result of a blade that offers extreme sharpness and unparalleled edge retention. Satin finished hardware and a stonewashed pocket clip. The back of the blade is laser engraved with Shawn Houston’s “Big Brown Bear” logo. Brand new in box.
