Spyderco LionSteel Slym Frame Lock Titanium Integral Handle With Dark Matter Polar Inlay Stonewash M390 Blade C271TIP

Produced by lionSTEEL exclusively for Spyderco, the Slym elevates Michele Pensato’s popular Skinny design with the user friendliness of our Trademark Round Hole in the blade. This lean folder features a full flat ground, drop point blade crafted from Böhler-Uddeholm’s M390 particle metallurgy stainless steel. In addition to its fully accessible Round Hole, the stonewash finished blade also includes a removeable flipper tab and rides on ball bearing washers for an ultra smooth action. The Slym’s unique handle is precision machined from a single piece of titanium using lionSTEEL’s SOLID  technology. It also boasts a durable gray physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating and a black and white Dark Matter Polar Fat Carbon Fiber inlay on the obverse side. The handle’s reverse side is home to a sturdy Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism that includes a long wearing hardened steel interface. To keep the knife poised for instant access, the handle also features both a generously sized lanyard hole and a butt mounted, deep pocket clip that is reversible for left or right side carry. New in box.

This is nothing against American Edge. I was initially super excited about this knife as it is a titanium integral with the spyderco badge. From factory, the action was terrible and sounded like it was scraping nails on a chalkboard. The blade was also off-centered. I would not expect this from a knife at this price point, especially under the Spyderco name. I added oil and tried to loosen the pivot but they use locktight on the T8 screws making them not budge. I was able to slightly improve the action but it should be ready to go out of the box. After looking at reviews from other retailers, it seems others are having the same issues. I have 3 other spydercos from USA and Japan and they are amazing. The folks at Lionsteel in Italy may need to increase their quality control. I give it 2 stars simply for the materials of the knife but overall I was dissatisfied with it.

So first off the integral frame is really cool. Every means of deployment is super smooth. The action and lockup is spot on. This is a very fun fast knife. Thanks again American edge for the prompt delivery it is nice to run into people like you guys.
