Blade Show Texas: What to Expect and Where to Find Us

Show season is officially in full swing, and one of the events we look forward to every year is Blade Show Texas. Honestly, it’s one of my personal favorites. If you’ve never been to a Blade Show before, it’s a little hard to explain until you experience it in person. I like to think of it as a Comic-Con for knife people.

Think about it like this: you’re in a huge convention ballroom surrounded by hundreds of knife makers, manufacturers, collectors, and enthusiasts all packed into one place. All 78 places that you look are some of the best knives in the world. Tables are covered with incredible craftsmanship, rare pieces, and the kind of mementos collectors hang onto for years just waiting to be a tangible memory of the show for you.

Whether you’re a seasoned collector or someone just getting into the hobby, Blade Show Texas is one of the best shows to experience. You get that large show feel, but in a way that’s not overpowering or overwhelming like its larger brother, Blade Show Atlanta.

What Is Blade Show Texas?

Blade Show Texas is one of the largest knife events in the industry, bringing together:

  • Custom knife makers
  • Major knife manufacturers
  • Retailers and dealers
  • Collectors from all over the world

It’s a place where new designs debut, collaborations are revealed, and collectors finally get to handle knives they’ve only seen online.

For many people, Blade Show is more than a trade show. It’s a gathering of the knife community. A place where ideas, stickers, t-shirts and more are traded on the showroom floor, planting little seeds for the next generation of designs. (Just no brown-bagging!)

What You’ll See on the Show Floor

Walking through Blade Show is like stepping into the center of the knife world.

Everything from high-end custom knives built by individual makers to production models from the biggest brands in the industry is on display. Many makers bring one-of-a-kind pieces, prototypes, or special variations that you won’t see anywhere else.

Expect to find:

  • Custom handmade knives
  • New production releases
  • Rare and collectible pieces
  • Exclusive show variants
  • Makers demonstrating their craft

One of the best parts of Blade Show is the opportunity to meet the makers themselves. Many of the people designing and building these knives are right there behind their tables, happy to talk about their work and the ideas behind their designs.

Conversations bounce between blade steel, grind geometry, and sometimes completely random things like whether the coffee from Dunkin' that morning was strong enough to survive the show floor. That’s where the connections and memories will take off!

It’s also a great way to handle knives and feel the ergonomics in hand before making a choice on your next EDC or safe queen.

Tips for First-Time Blade Show Attendees

If this is your first Blade Show, here are a few things I would advise. (My credentials are pretty good, I think, but I may be slightly biased.)

Get there early.
Some of the most sought-after knives sell out quickly. Early-bird tickets are often not available at this point in the schedule, but if you can find one on the secondary market, I would highly recommend it.

Bring cash if you can.
While many vendors take cards, cash can make things easier when buying directly from makers. Cash has been and still continues to be king of the knife show.

Take your time.
There is a lot to see, and some of the best finds happen when you slow down and explore. Hit your high-demand tables first, then map out a route that lets you take it all in. Blade Show Texas is an amazing experience, and planning ahead helps you enjoy it without feeling rushed.

Talk to people.
The knife community is incredibly welcoming, and you’ll meet collectors and makers who are passionate about what they do. There’s a strange way that fate pulls people into the same room, like some unwritten laws of reality guiding everyone toward the same obsession with great tools. The showroom floor and the conversations will reveal why we are all here in the same time and the same place. You’ll learn incredible things about the craft, the history behind certain designs, and sometimes even about the strange little rituals collectors have developed over the years.

Where to Find American Edge

If you’re attending Blade Show Texas, make sure to come say hello. We always enjoy meeting members of the American Edge community in person.

Although we do not have a booth at this show, we will be moving all over the floor. Following us on social media is the best way to track us down. We usually orbit somewhere near Heretic and Blackside Customs (shoutout to our friends over there-we love ya!).

We will also be attending the Arcane Design Hangout on Friday night (March 20), just two blocks from the convention center. The hangout is hosted by Arcane Design and is sponsored by The Ancient City Continental. It’s shaping up to be a great time with raffle giveaways every 30 minutes, a food truck, and free refreshments and spirits. If you’re around Friday night, come hang out with the community.

As far as the actual showroom floor goes, we will be there all hours Friday and Saturday, cantching ourselves in the wander and catching up with friends.

We’ll also have 50 sticker packs available, and 3 of those 50 packs will contain a surprise coupon for your next EDC purchase. FIND ME FAST! Think of it as a treasure hunt through the underworld, and if you find one of the lucky sticker packs, consider it your crown!

Feel free to stop me for one. I promise, I’m friendlier than my face makes me look.

Can’t Make It to Blade Show?

Don’t worry. We’ll be sharing highlights from the show, interesting knives we come across, and some behind-the-scenes moments from the event.

We’ll also be bringing plenty of inventory back with us on the plane to ship out as soon as we return to Minnesota. The whole team will be there this year, which means knives may very well be getting listed while we are AT THE SHOW.

Between show floor conversations, late dinners, and the occasional herbal tea or gut-friendly kombucha, we’ll be doing our best to capture the full experience.

Make sure to follow along on our social channels so you don’t miss a thing. A recap blog and *maybe* even a video will be going out sometime next week before heading back out...to the Badger Knife Show.

Stay locked in.
